We are all busy! Time management tips are great, but often they require us to actually have time available to manage, and if your life outside of business is anything like mine at the moment, that just isn’t the case! So how do we be productive in our business when we are incredibly time poor?
Here’s my top three tips, and the first two require you to re-think how you manage your to-do list:
1. Write a shit list
List out ALL the things that you are trying to hold onto in your head to try and get done. List out any outstanding jobs, things you should have followed, people you mean to connect with, invoices you are yet to send – ALL of it!
This is not your working to-do list, but it does get all of this stuff out of your head and onto paper so you can clear up some mental room for actually doing things!
2. Daily To-Do List needs to be pre-planned and short
Write your to-do list for tomorrow, today! Plan ahead so you don’t waste time thinking about what you should be doing in your acutal doing time. When you decide the day before, as soon as you have a moment to work you can start WORKING – this sets you up for a much more motivating start to the day.
Keep the list to just THREE items. Learn to really prioritise what are the most important three things you need to tomorrow and focus on them, if you get them all done and still have time you can cross something off your “shit list”.
3. Spend 10 min doing the work you LOVE
Don’t get so caught up the BUSY that you forget to do the things that light you up. Carve out an spare 10 or min in your day and use them ONLY for the work that matters to you, motivates you and moves you towards the long term vision for yourself and your business.
This gives inspiration and creativity a chance to thrive, even in the most hectic of lifestyles. It also keeps you connected to why you do what you do you and keeps the feelings of fear, self-doubt and resentment at bay!
